Thank you Roy. It makes me very happy, privileged and humbled that people across the world can take comfort in her words.
Our Maj is a shining example of, to me, and I'm sure many, the greatest generation. To give so much to future mankind. I pray we will always remember what people sacrificed for us.

Growing up I was always told that my ancestry background was English, Irish, Welsh and Scot. I've done two DNA tests and they confirmed it---well one said that there was a bit of German blood in me--

My Great great Grandfather Grey sailed the Pacific 5 times to bring his brothers and sisters to America from England.

My maternal great grandmother and her daughter, my grandmother were so proper compared to the other women, just the way they carried themselves, the way they sat and their posture was always immaculate.

My mother could remember the first time she heard her mother use a swear word. It was at the Davis homestead for Christmas Day Dinner and mom got up and announced that she was pregnant with me (her first child) and my grandmother blurted out "Oh Shit"! My mom exclaimed 'Mother"! To which my grandmother calmly said "Sometimes I say dammit too".

Grandma was a regular church goer and several years after my grandfather had passed away she married a man from her church. The wedding was very small and on a Saturday.

Mom went to church the following day and grandma and her new husband weren't in attendance so after services mom went to their home to see if everything was alright.

When mom arrived all was well but she asked my grandmother why they hadn't gone to church as they regularly did to which my grandmother replied "Well I wasn't going to sit there with all of them wondering 'Well did they or didn't they'-----Name: no see smily.gif

How I miss all of those who have gone before me.

My Boy Scout Scoutmaster was Owen Agenbroad and he survived Iwo Jima, almost 7000 of his fellow Marines didn't and they died in 33 days of battle. When he would be told that his was the Greatest Generation, he would calmly reply--"Every Generation is the Greatest Generation". At times I wonder if he was right, but every once in awhile I see hope for those that are up and coming.

What a great memory! It reminds me of my Auntie Joan, She's so quintessentially English it's laughable. The closest I've ever heard her swear is " Oh! Crumbs." !!

Yeah, despite some millennials apathy in everything around them I also see some hope.

I find it amazing that she could perform like this at what I believe is 61 years of age. The dancers haven't got anything on her---

The fun starts at around 2:45 minutes in:

    Here's some interesting information:

Focus in 1973 with Jan Akkerman on guitar . Jan Akkerman was voted best guitarist in the world in 1973 by Melody Maker . Always very underrated imo , still great guitar player . On drums Pierre van der Linden , one of my favourite drummers of all time.

I was tryin' to figure out which is worse, ignorance or apathy...Then I realized I don't know and I don't care...

I remember that one as a minor hit on American AM radio when I was a child in the mid 70s, then brought back briefly after the success of Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody."
