Hearing doesn't "grow back" once you lose it.

Too late, I too have tinnitus. Periodically I hear F-16's running in my ears even though I've not been around one for ages.

Fastest thing in the air when I was in the Navy was the F-4 Phantom and the F-8 Crusader. Those damned A-6 Intruders were louder than either of the other two when they were sitting on the cat at full military power waiting to go ZOOM. I was part of the Carrier Air Wing arming crew and worked on the bow cats during launches. Loud would be an understatement. the Gubmint (VA) pays for my hearing aids though. Only had to argue with 'em on and off for thirty years.

I'm gettin' a bit grey around the edges.

Got Norah Jones going at the moment...probably be back to Sinatra a little later. Then again, if my day keeps getting more hectic, it'll probably be some Metallica or Iron Maiden.
