Had a great few days with one of my sons visiting Auckland, and seeing Black Sabbath live. Excellent bars, beautiful food.
Ozzy was a bit out of tune, but Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler are as sharp as ever. Tommy Clufetos, taking the place of Bill Ward on drums is amazing.
But the highlight of the concert for me was the support act Rival Sons from Long Beach, California. Incredibly sharp and tight band live.

Kind of like this my friend?

Thanks for the Rival sons links guys - I hadn't heard of them before.
I have a hunch that if you like them, you might also dig The Sheepdogs...

Danish band called Dizzy Mizz Lizzy. I heard them live last weekend at a unofficial concert before they start their tour for the summer with the new album. Can't wait to hear them again at Roskilde Festival.

Step Right Up
Awoke today to the heartbreaking news that Gord Downie has terminal brain cancer. They will be doing one final tour this summer, and god help anyone that gets between me and a ticket.
And so today it will be all Hip all day chez cangooner.
The song Gord wrote in memory of his little nephew captures the mood pretty well...

Once of the best live bands I've ever seen, with one of the most charismatic and wonderfully strange frontmen ever, they will be badly missed up here.

Great post my friend. He will definitely be missed.
My younger brother has been privilege to have had the opportunity to see Tommy play live. How I envy him.
Tommy starts out with a Wonderful example of 'Cascading Harmonics'

Great Dylan song and a classy video. I'd never seen it before, the black and white set in the UK was very nice. :tu
Thanks Jamie
Jamie, I like Bobby Darin's work, however when it come to this song there is a very special rendition; this is my all time favorite done by the late and great Johnny Cash and his beautiful wife June Carter Cash.
My very first 'real girlfriend' and I used to sing it like Johnny and June. Years later we met and were talking about our lives since we'd parted and she told me that she recently had a boyfriend who started to sing this to her and she stopped him and told him that there was only One Man who could sing that song to her. So we sang it together. I couldn't believe that both of us still remembered the entire song.
The last I saw of her she was acting strangely and didn't speak; Her husband told me she had dementia and that broke my heart. She'd just turned 58 years old two weeks before on the 14th of January. Yes I still remember her 'Special Day. So for Jane and the good time we had, I present this:

Loved your poignant story, cudarunner... It amazing the memories that an old tune can cause us to relive. Hold onto those memories ..
From my end, here's a great performance from Sam Brown at the Concert for George, on the first anniversary of his passing. So much talent assembled at one venue. This is also memorable as the first live performance of this tune by George Harrison. I love this video for very many reasons!

There are certain songs from my teens that when I hear them I can smell the smells, taste the tastes and remember the people, the car, the event etc. For some reason a lot of the Loving Spoonful's songs do that/like these two. I believe the Loving Spoonful had SIX #1 hit in a row!

He and his wife were murdered during a robbery after returning to their very humble home from a performance .

Stan Getz - "Lovers"
Thanks Max. I started to post The Allman Brothers but it was late & I was tired.
@ cudarunner #3069,
Your not the only one with that magical power:rofl2:
Scott H Biram.
He rings out a guitar like a Mississippi wind chime. Can't get enough of his stuff.
After all this time, I think Ron Wood can officially be called a Stone. His birthday was yesterday. Charlie Watts birthday today. Some old time Rockers there!!
In their own inimitable style...
