Don, you won't be disappointed. It's top quality. I had to break mine in for a long time. For my Glock it balances it out really nice. I would say half way with a bit more emphasis towards the top part so my handle sits snug against my skin. Leather belt snaps are very snug and tight, combined with the stiffer leather of the holster and my leather belt it really doesn't start to flop and just sits extremely rigid and secure.
As soon as it's sweater, suit and jacket time I start using the Alessi. Even with a nice large shirt hanging over my pants I have no issues.
Here are some of the pics I took from the holster.

I started out carrying a Sig P229 forty cal in one of those fanny pack velcro deals. That was alright but it was heavy and everyone knew you had a gun. Weight may not be a consideration. OTOH, I always carried at work because of holdups in the neighborhood where the store workers were murdered.
For 7 years I carried a S&W 340PD 357mag. The scandium frame and titanium cylinder weigh it in at 15.9 oz loaded. I switched from that to a Sig P238 which actually weighed an ounce more loaded but I like the flat profile. I was carrying these in my right front pocket. Sometimes with a pocket holster and sometimes without.
Shortly after getting the Sig I got hooked up wth that Beltster thing and that made a big difference in the comfort. Working between 9 and 11 hour days I found I forgot I was even carrying. I decided I wanted more fire power than a 380 and bought a Kahr MK40. This thing is like 28 ounces loaded and is quite comfortable to carry 11 hours straight.
If you've been carrying a heavier weapon and know you are okay with it that is fine. If you haven't been you ought to go to a gun store and get a nylon Uncle Mike's or whatever and try that 1911 for a week or so. If I'm not comfortable with the weapon or the holster I find myself leaving it home.Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I used to carry my Sig P239 .40 compact in Kramer holsters, but they are thicker and profile more under my normal t-shirt and shorts AZ garb, so I had to wear a larger than normal t-shirt size to cover it. Now I carry in a Bladetech IWB Razor holster, which is made of Kydex and has a very thin and more concealable profile, also has good weapon retention in case of a fall or rough and tumble situation. I also have the same Bladetech IWB Razor holster for my S&W model 642 stainless hammerless airweight .38, which conceals under anything and doesn't rust.
