Monty Python.
Benny Hill.
My favorite crime series was German Schimanski. A real man who made Chuck Norris, Bruce Willis and Rambo look like a little kittens.
Twin Peaks.
Nowadays i hardly watch TV at all. Life is elsewhere.

Radio...
I loved all the early TV shows, but what I loved most about Saturday mornings was laying in bed and listening to "Big John and Sparky" - Sponser was "Buster Brown Shoes" - "Plunk Your Magic Twanger, Froggie-e-e-e"
(I know the thread is supposed to be TV shows, but just had to mention "Big John and Sparky") - forgive me...
I know that really dates me; but, so be it...

Wow ... a lot of great stuff ... forgot about Wally Gator. Also, seems like you can tell a lot about folks. The fun-lovers go right to cartoons, the baby boomers go to the 60's stuff, a couple of 50's and radio shows blended. I've started to listen to classic radio on Sirius/XM, and have gotten an enlightenment ... Gunsmoke was MUCH better on the radio than TV, and I always thought The Outer Limits and the Twilight Zone were ground-breaking until I listened to episodes of The Inner Sanctum, The Whistler and Escape. TZ and Outer Limits were certainly great - I just didn't realize that there were precursors on radio.
Some other REALLY obscure programs that I remember as a kid ... Mr. Terrific with Wally Cox, I believe as a bumbling, wimpy, accidental hero. There was also My World and Welcome to It, and Run for your Life, 77 Sunset Strip, Fireball XL-5.
Then the Jack Webb productions ... Dragnet, Adam-12, Emergency.
Danny Thomas was funny ... no one's mentioned I Love Lucy ... still funny, but not as much so it seems, as before. And does anyone remember the original Bill Cosby show where he was a high school coach. Speaking of which ... all the "school" shows ... Kotter, Room 222, Our Ms. Brooks, White Shadow, etc.
How about special characters ... ever thought about how the #2 funny guy was usually more of a favorite than the star? E.g., Don Knotts as Barney Fife, Art Carney as Ed Norton, Woody to Sam Malone, Kramer to Seinfeld. And almost everyone liked Mary Ann more than Ginger.
Maybe we should do some versus discussion ...
I Dream of Jeanie vs. Bewitched
Addams Family vs. The Munsters
Rawhide vs. Wagon Train
Cheers vs. M.A.S.H.
Could go on forever.

As a kid, Gilligan's Island..... (My vote was always for Mary-Anne)
And another i haven't seen listed here yet; M*A*S*H. It's a bit cheesy, but at the same time, surprisingly sophisticated. Compared to the drivel that passes for modern programing, refreshingly engaging. A lot of the adult humour was lost on me as a kid, but after recently catching a re-run, I have to admit, I think it was actually a pretty good show.
