[QUOTE=Magpie;669615] I think we can all agree, that there is a certain level of class and elegance in hand written correspondence that can not be matched by the common methods of communication today.[QUOTE]
To be quite honest, I type better than I write anymore... This computer age has stripped away all interaction with each other...
I enjoy writing with a FP on fine paper, but it seem like there is no time anymore...
A toast to all that enjoy the "Finer" things in life even if we are broke...
Thanks for the reminder Magpie...

I get out of puff climbing stairs these days! but they were my uncle's and were played at the Somme so I can't part with them. That reminds me, we used to wax up the hemp thread with a black flexible wax which I remember as being really sticky p'raps too sticky for seals though.
An apple a day keeps the doctor away....if you throw it hard enough.

OK... This tread has been "stale" for a week or two... So here are mine...
If you're wondering what's in the box... It's one of my Handmade Apple Wood Pipes w/ Mule Deer Antler Shank... I have adopted the Brown Paper or News Paper with tie for "deliver"... It's making the trip to Wyoming in the AM...

Thanked: 235My parents each have a decorative letter seal which they wear around their necks. I think they were made from 9k gold, and the stamp part was made from some dark or black stone, but they never had anything engraved on the stamp.
One day they will be mine and I will have my initials put onto one of them.

Great thread!
My Grandfather used to seal his letters with a Masonic compass and square insignia.
My high school roommate had a plain gold oval ring with his family crest and sealed all his letters with it. Classy.
I really hadn't thought about this until reading this thread. Thanks, Basil!
I occaisionally write letters, in cursive, on personalized cotton bond with a fountain pen. The recipients love 'em. I believe I'll get a simple initial seal.
Don't they sell these at the fancy stationery stores in the big malls?

Thanked: 18I have a wax seal (or two) on my desk, along with about a half-dozen sticks of wax. I use it occasionally to make various documents look nice, or when I want to seal something before putting it away into storage. One day, I'd love to get a signet-ring.

Thanked: 50Basil, that looks really sweet. Clean and minimalist, but very personal at the same time!
