Check out the Noodlers fountain pen. I love mine and at ~$15 its an amazing pen for the price. It is piston fill though.
No that pistol isn't the only thing under my kilt, but I can tell you both of them work just fine

Thanks! I really like piston fill - it's kinda like shaving w. a straight instead of cartridges - but I've also seen some expensive shirts get seriously ruined when the seal fails and all the inky goodness leaks out...

I've never had a problem with mine. I did take a razor blade to the nib to open it up a little but aside from that its stock and writes like a dream. Do I like nicer pens? Yea. Will I eventually get something a bit nicer. Yea but for the time being I couldnt be happier with it.

I got my from a 80 something year old pilot that came into the airport that I worked at. One time I told him I liked his fountain pen and the next week he flew in and gave it to me. He said he had too many and If i ended up not liking it just to pass it on to someone I thought might.

I started writing with a fountain pen out of necessity (originally). I used to get massive cramps in my hand at university, as I refused to use a laptop to take notes in class - I found it too distracting. Did some research after tolerating the pain for a few years, and found out that a fountain pen could be a possible cure-all. Ended up buying an Esterbrook J, used that for a year, and haven't looked back! I'm not a serious collector, as I've only got 4 right now - 2 of which will be gifts - my remaining pens are a Lamy Safari (excellent grab and go), and my beloved 1944 Parker Vacumatic Major.

I did the same thing, no laptop keeps me off facebook. Hand started cramping so I tried fountain pens

Started with a couple pilot disposables (helped a lot) then i git 2 Schaefer javelins. They were on sale for 50% off At my university bookstore

I will never go back, the only time
I don't use them is when I am doing math and I use a pencil

Yeah, I was astonished by how much of a difference there was between a ball point and a fountain pen. I'm looking to grab a Parker 51 soon-ish, just to have another back-up pen. Normally I only take my Lamy to school, but I wouldn't mind having a "nice" alternative. I think a 51 would serve my needs well, and they're pretty much bullet-proof.
