I like the Glencairn glasses for nice single malts but for an everyday whisky a nice heavy double old fashioned is my favorite.

Currently, I have a set of these:

Not cheap, but they were a gift.

The Glencairn nosing glasses I have are narrower and thicker than the riedel glasses. Riedel makes them really thin on purpose, but I feel like they are too fragile for my clumsy sausage fingers.

Here are the ones I have:

I know plenty of folks who use brandy snifters too.

In the UK Scotch glasses are often called whisky tumblers.
My family ran a Shell petrol station for many years and back in the sixties Shell ran an ad promotion giving away whisky tumblers.
We kept a few boxes back and that's what we're drinking scotch from today. Not to mention the ones we have in the bathrooms for mouthwash etc.

I have no idea who makes these glasses or where to get them, which is unfortunate because I love them and only have two. My old roomate at my old apartment left them when she moved out and said she didn't want them back.

I'm not sure how large they are, but they are great for neat drinks or even something on the rocks (like a delicious G&T).

I like a good wide bodied glass for a single malt, for general whiskey drinking I go for a heavy bottomed short glass, and drink mine with a little bit of scottish water just as was intended

    I use these:

    Society crystal tasting glass

Pricey, but worth the cost, especially for the way they concentrate the aromas.

Sooo...what's wrong with just drinking the stuff out of the bottle?

This last holiday season Glen Fiddich's gift packaging contained a standard Glen Cairn glass and a whisk(e)y tasting diary. The main liquor store chain where I live puts out the stuff that comes in holiday gift boxes for a buck a piece on the 2nd of January. When my girlfriend and I stopped in to see if they had any left we did not see them on the shelf with the other glasses and such. A quick questioning of one of the staff and we were in the back room unboxing the bottles and pulling out the glasses. We ended up getting 6 glasses and diary sets for free because we did all the work.
Check with your local places and see what they do with them.

That said I don't use the Glen Cairn all the time, just when opening a new bottle or for a super relaxed drink. Otherwise it is a standard short and heavy tumbler

This is the best picture I could find: nachtmann vivendi obstbrand | Produktsuche & Preisvergleich bei PreisRoboter.de

    The Nactmann Vivendi Obstbrand

Technically a brandy glass, on my last trip to Scandinavia, I was introduced to this glass by a Master Sommelier. I have been most impressed by what it does to bring out the flavor of any spirits.
