My understanding is that people would just use it like "dip" but they would use a moist stick and suck on it... I think more to coat the cheek...

There is all kinds of "snuffing" techniques...

Another use from what I have read is "Dental Snuff" kind of tobacco infused toothpaste that you "smear" on the gums... More of an Asian thing...

Anyway, the weather is cooler and the aromas come through better for me this time of year, so tonight is a pinch of "Crumbs of Comfort", very nice "Minty" aroma...

I will join you with some minty goodness ... love this snuff

For those who do are not familiar with snus. I haven't used it personally for at least decades but borrowed this tin from my son to take a pic. He (like many others) learned to use it while in the military and has been using ever since.

Now there's two kinds of snus: loose and portion. People who use snus it put an amount (loose) or small bag (portion) behind the upper lip. With the loose snus they use sort of syringe called icetool (Finnish), primaster (swedish) or cannon (estonian). Messy stuff with the loose snus anyway.

Ironically, the selling of the snus got illegal several years ago. After such decision it became more popular than ever. Many ex-smoker uses it nowadays and even many who have never smoked. Black markets are huge.
Buying or importing is not legal. I could buy it from Sweden enough for the rest of my days and import it here; only selling is illegal.

Of the people i work with i know that is is popular with the folks from military, coast guards and cops. Also teens and athletics use it widely. Etc etc.
There are several places that sell it from under the disk in the city. I find it sort of ironic that it's usually cops that make a big group in their customers.

What was the point in making a law that everyone thinks it's joke. Even those whose job is to protect the laws. Little by little politicians have learned to realize that they made a fool of themselves, so propably the law will change some day in the future.

    Tomi,

Being a smokeless tobacco user, I have tried the Swedish Snus Style... I can attest that I tend to like the American style better... However, I do use General Brand on occasion...

I have bought a few brand of the Swedish that is "loose" however, I was surprised what "loose" consisted of... It's almost like mud.

I bought a plunger and some portion pouches, but to me it hindered the flavor and texture.

I also prefer the American style better. I dislike the bags and compare them to training wheels.

Flashback time.... I started using in junior high.

Therefore I tend not to spit. The teachers never noticed or said anything. But if they would have I wonder what it would feel like to poop a bag????

I must be in a reminiscing mood...

A cool old coot named George was a short scrawny guy with a taller big wife Dorthy. Anyway,,, he always wore his pants rolled up at the cuff and whenever he came over to visit or was inside he would spit into the cuff of his pants. Dorthy must have loved him when it came time for laundry!
