Thanked: 0as for getting it out. Head and Shoulders shampoo will do alright. I've heard of using Coke a Cola to...
I like that it doesn't wash out super easy. Went to the lake the other day, got out, dried off and combed my hair back into place no problem haha

Thanked: 7Ha, a thread right up my alley. After using therapy on my gambling and razor addictions I used the magic of transference to get PAD. I've tried Royal Crown (both dressing and pomade), Layrite Super Hold, Deluxe, the red and blue Sweet Georgia Brown, Murray's in three differant strengths, Scmiere hard (the orange one), a product made by a fellow SRP member, and High Life Voodoo Brew. They were all graded using the age old technique of wearing a hardhat all day and seeing how my hair stood up/recombability. The only two that hold up to the hardhat test are Murray's original and the Voodoo Brew. Other than that I like most of them. Layrite is great if you don't sweat or plan on looking good by the end of the night; and the Schmiere is too pricey and didn't work with my hair well. Also the R.C. is really good for a slick back look that doesn't involve a pomp, think of it as the step between Brylcreem and pomade. It's my go to for work when I just slick it off to the side. There you go, I can answer specifics if you'd like but I think the basics are covered.

I have tried them all!!! I currently have Royal crown, murray's, 360 style (water based), lucky 13 barber supplies tru hold (actually made by murray's)
Other's I have used are Layrite..works great but it is pricey, sweet georgia brown (purple water based) also now available by murray"s) works well but it takes about 2-3 washes to get out. Mike Ness Black Cat Kustoms (over priced and over rated).
My favorite combo is murray's for hold with a little Royal crown for shine
Now to get Murray's out of your hair, I heat with hair dryer, then soften with olive oil. then I wash with dawn and coke. Your best bet though...once it is in. leave it in. It will naturally come out in a week or so. plus Anyone who has combed a pompadour knows day one pomade is the worst.

Thanked: 1I am new to the forum here, and new to straight razors yet I know quite a bit about the pomades and pomps
I could not have said the remedy for Murrary removal better. Though I will typically skip the coke and dawn and use olive oil shampoo, let it sit for 10-15 minutes and then rinse and condition.. It all depends upon the hair type as well.

Thanked: 7I think I'm missing something here. What is everyones obsession with getting it out of your hair? That's one of the things I like about Murray's, it doesn't wash out. Besides, aren't you just going to re-grease it a few minutes after your shower anyway? Maybe it's my greaser mentaility, I don't know, but I let it ride and go from there.
