    Whips have always fascinated me too. There's a guy in my area that makes them but i'm sure there would be someone in Texas too.

    Here's my grandfather's. It measures 12 feet long from the end of the handle to the tip of the business end:

    Dad said my grandfather used to snap rattle snakes in half from horseback with it. Dad also said he found out he couldn't out run it

    I just ordered an 8' waxed nylon (recommended for beginners). If I like it, I will look into some kangaroo and decide on longer or not.

    I cant imagine working a 12' whip, but sure would like to see someone working one!

    I had one as a kid. Managed to raise a few welts on myself a few times and make some cool pops.
    Now,with a towel, I am dangerous!
