Just saw an ad by Timex for their new top of the line. Almost $1000 for a Timex. Would you spend that much for one? It's Swiss made but for that price the competition is very keen.

That the Giorgio Galli S2 Automatic?
Wouldn’t spend that on that watch. No date, no numerals, a lil too dressy for my taste.

I have the S1 which is half the price. They spent so much on the injection molded case the rest of the watch is cheap looking though it has a good Citizen mvmt. Maybe the S2 overcomes that but when it comes to watches name means everything and Timex doesn't have chops for that price range.

Agreed, I am looking for a timex James Brand, for my son James, but that’s a limited edition still half that asking price.
Japanese movement in it @ 21 jewels, but it’ll fit my son’s wrist, and age.
If I find one, I’ll post it up.

Japanese movement, titanium case and sapphire crystal, his first mechanical watch, and his name on a limited edition run of only 1000 made.
    Christmas covered in November.
Turning him into a watch buff I think..
    Cheers.

If you stick with their "better" watches meaning around $400 they have some fantastic bargains like the Expedition Series for instance.

Yes, this one is right in that range. Call this one more of a field watch, but it’s in line with the Expedition series for ruggedness, I hope. Like his dad, he’s hard on his watches. The titanium should handle his youthful misdeeds..

CWC G22 AUTOMATIC GENERAL SERVICE WATCH

Sellita SW200-1 automatic mechanical movement, 26 jewels.

More discreet than my other watches, and seems solid.

36.5 mm case. Weight 42 grams.
    11 mm depth case.

Jut recently bought my first automatic. A Citezen 8200 movment. I am happpy with the timekeeping but am disapointed that the stainless band is showing wear. If it was 10 to 20 years ago I would understand but lately I am putting little wear on it.
