Thread: What types of watches do you like?

Always liked the look of the IWC lineup.
And the 39mm and smaller Rolex, the ones I’d like to sport on my wrist someday if I find one.

The Asian watch market is kinda melting down right now. Buddy of mine up a nice 1985 era Datejust 36mm, told him to drop it into RSC (Rolex Service Center), pay for the service, gets back under warranty and you're the registered owner.

He picked it up from Chrono24 (dot ca version), used a credit card, so funds stay in escrow until you are delivered the watch and can get it checked out. $4,000 Canadian, smoking deal, if you take your time, they're out there.

36mm is a classic size, if Tony Soprano can wear a 36mm, anyone can.

What I find interesting, is for decades 31-34mm was considered a "common" sized men's watch. Only last couple decades we've got into these 36mm is a women's watch, men must wear minimum 40mm...insane imo.

I'm 6'4" and wear my Day-Date and it is a classic size.

On the other hand, nothing makes me laugh more, than some dudes calling 36mm a women's watch, then flashing a 40mm Day-Date that looks like a dinner plate on their dainty wrists....lol!

When you start talking fashion it's some dudes at an agency deciding what's in style and what's out of style. That's so you have to go out and buy all new stuff.

40mm isn't considered big these days it's really average and many many pieces are in the 42 and 44mm category. Of course you can go to Invicta and get a 50mm+ watch and wear it on your 6.5 inch wrist. It would put a clown to shame.

Smaller sizes are coming back. There are a load of 38mm watch out there now and increasing numbers at 36mm. Smaller than that I'm not sure you'll see for a while except in remakes of older pieces.

The size of brands like Liv don’t work on my wrist.
I’m most comfortable in the 36-40 range.
This lunar watch is right at the edge of being to big for me actually,it’s narrower than tall though,,, so it works.
A date just from 65 would be cool, if they were auto then. Or newer.
Will keep an eye out..

Frank, in my opinion we can blame obesity and Jean-Claude Biver for having popularized oversized watches. I enjoy wearing a 36mm watch, especially if it’s a dress watch. I don’t care about fashion, I wear what suits my wrist. It’s also a reminder for me to stay slim.
