Just found out that one of my wife's coworkers has a book color with cyanogen mod on it that she will let me borrow this weekend. So that's kind of exciting! Now to find some cash...

Thanked: 9I've got a Kindle that I got from work. Never even bothered to open it.
My favorite readers are still made with paper and glue...

I have a kindle Keyboard and a flytouch 2 android tablet.SWMBO has a kindle Keyboard and an ipad2, for reading we both use the kindle the quality of the screen, the ease of use, the overall weight, and the mega battery life make it perfect for reading. so if its for reading then the kindle is the best IMO, But if your after more function of a tablet the cheap chinese knock offs are not very good.
Given the quality of my kindleI would go for a kindle fire they have cracking aftersales support and the build quality of the kindle is second to none.put it this way as soon as the fire comes to the UK I'll be ordering one.
Good luck

I had one of the 7" Samsung Galaxy tabs for a while and it was a great little unit. I only got rid of it as I wanted a larger screen and updated to an Asus Transformer. A good, used one might set you back a little over your $200 budget but it's a great device and gives your a lot more functionality than just a good e-book reader.

Thanked: 983I have an i (eye) reader and a thumb pad, for turning the leaves of an, actual book. I find this to be entertainment enough, without going out and spending hundreds of dollars. I don't need to look for a charger when the battery runs out, I just have a short nap and I'm off again. Easy!
If I want colour, I buy a comic

If you want a device to read books i would get an e-book as the e-ink monochrome screens are much easier to read then the table color screens... Although not all e-readers use this display and some just use a standard LCD..
If you plan on using it for both then get a tablet, but for reading they aren't quite as good as a proper e-reader.

I ended up with the nookcolor. They can be found, factory refurbed with full warranty, for $150. I've switched over a few magazine subcriptions already and have read 3 books this week. It may not sound like much but when you have three small children and a wife who works 7a-7p, it is rare to sit down and pleasure read.
I'm hoping the wife and kids like this so I can get an e-ink reader down the road. I just ordered a 16g sd card for it so I can dual boot android and nook software.
I also need to find comic books, graphic novels, and the stieg larsson books for cheap now.
