Thread: Henry Repeating Arms

I just finished polishing my Henry rifle, while I was doing so I wondered how many here have Henrys. Mine is the Big Boy in .45 Colt. The first time I picked it up I was amazed at the smooth action. I know butter is an often overused term, but it accurately describes the Henry.

My buddy has one in .22 mag. I lust after the thing. The Henry's I have shot, all have awesome actions. Everyone should have one in 30-30 me thinks.

Never had a Henry (or Winchester for that matter). Owned a Marlin once, in .357. I've rued the day that I sold it ever since. Maybe I should try a Henry (or a Winchester) next time I buy a lever action.

Not knocking Winchester or Marlin, I own 4 winchester 94's and a Marlin, but neither one is as smooth as the Henry.

They must have made some big improvements... I looked at some Henrys about 10 years ago, and they were more like a novelty item - a toy capable of handling a real cartridge, but better suited to a display case.

If they're making them better now, it might be worth giving them another look...

Seriously though... I would love to see what these guns look like that you are discussing. Living in the UK i havent had much dealings with any kind of gun (other than an air rifle).

Lately I've heard good things about the Henry. I'm a Marlin man myself, but open to Winchester & Henry.

This is my Brothers Henry, a .44 mag, only difference is mine is a 45 Colt. That's me in my CAS outfit.

I've been seriously thinking about one here lately in .22lr. It's just hard to give up that kind of jack for a .22 you know...

Brother I feel you on that one. Back in the day (high school), I used to shoot competitively. We shot Anschutz rifles back then, and when I thought I might want to revisit the old glory days... Well, I got sticker shock.

But when I think about it - it's probably the best investment I could buy - not an Anschutz, but a good .22 or .22mag. Say a Savage or even a Henry. I can shoot them at the pistol range, buddy's back yard, etc. Moreover they are a blast to shoot. A pocket full of ammo and a good rifle = hours oh fun lol.
