As a matter of fact, I had a Twinkie today... Some guy brought them in and said enjoy... Now I remember what I wasn't missing...

Hostess is in the middle of bankruptcy to begin with. The union is a good excuse. They will sell off the brand names and and the owners will not be hurting. With the shelf life of Twinkies they will probably now be imported.

7 years ago we buried a time capsule at our camping place and planned to open it in 5 years. Everyone that came had to bring something to contribute. Included in the stash was a twinkie. When we opened it 2 years ago the twinkie looked good as new and got burried for another 5 years. I wonder what it will be worth in 3 more years?

The Teamsters settled, the bakers are the ones who are out. They say they made concessions 4 years ago and they won't go for what they feel are egregious demands from the company. Pension stuff and medical benefits.

Well,,,looking good & tasting good often bring about different results; like in buried Twinkies & middle aged women wearing jeans. Once you remove the wrapping, the results may not be pleasant.

yea, isn't it heartbreaking when you have a vibrant profitable company with great management and an eye to the future and some horrible union comes along and demands the sky.

One of the reasons the bakers union wouldn't settle after already giving up benefits a few years ago was because the officers of the outfit gave themselves big pay raises while the company was in deep do-do.

To be honest the main reason the Twinkie got reburied is that the woman who first brought it is no longer with us. Some of the older ones of the group brought up yearly time capsules. But there is plenty of the younger generation and the start of a third that all participate in our get togethers. In the middle of only the second capsule I wonder how many can be done?
