XBOX 1 Oh yeah!
Just plopped down the beans for the new XBOX. I'm already looking forward to setting that baby up in the garage with a 100 inch HD front projector and recycling the old HT audio equipment ( B&K Reference 50S2, Outlaw Audio 750 amp, Definitive Technologies BP2002, CLR 2000 and BPX rears)
It's going to handle all of the entertainment in the ultimate garage man cave/brew house I am building once someone buys my '69 Road Runner convertible. (Actually...if I could keep the RR in the garage and build AROUND it it would be truly epic, but you can't always get what you want)

Not to start any arguments, but it'll be PS4 for me, if I get a new system at all (I personally don't feel new systems are really necessary just yet).

No arguments here! It's about the games for me. I still have my original xbox which is going strong. Heck, I still have a working Atari 2600 which gets occasional use as well as my N64! Just goes to show that it's not about graphics or processing power, but about having fun playing.
I can see that they are trying to make the new XBOX into the "brain" of the home's entertainment system, but until they add DVR functionality, they can pretty much forget about it.
I'm not a fanboy of either console and will most likely get both.

Man, I still wish I had my Atari 2600, and my original Nintendo. The fun factor of those games are what made them. I still have my first generation PS2 and games that still get played from time to time. My PS3 died within 1 year of purchase and has yet to be replaced...if ever. From what I heard about Xbox... the jury is out.

Personally I wouldn't touch that device with a 10 foot pole......but if it makes you happy, more power to you.
Hope it's as good as you're hoping for and then some!

I don't get all the hate being spewed for the X1. From what I gather its due to the game sharing issue. I don't think I have ever borrowed or lent a game from or to anyone so that's really a non issue. And as far as downloads being the main way to get games, I personally can't wait until the physical disc has gone the way of the dodo.
Hardcore gamers will get both Consoles anyway, and I am not a hardcore gamer but even I would spring for a PS4 if I see a game I just have to play.
My only fear with the X1 is that it be loud and not the entertainment hub it's being touted as. That remains to be seen.

The game sharing issue is a concern to many, especially those that borrow or loan games. I used to borrow and loan games all the time as a kid; I expect that my kids would do the same with their friends. But, if the console is only for you, then you may not have a problem with it. My guess is that when the XBox TWO (?) comes out years from now, Microsoft will allow you to trade your XBox ONE game -- instead of expiring or deleting it -- for a TWO game with an extra fee, and have it in their online system. What good is having a game accessible online if it expires?
The internet connection issue is also a concern for a few. The XBox ONE requires an internet connection to gain online access for authentication at least one every 24 hours. Many people have an internet connection 24/7, so it isn't much of a worry. In this case, I only see a problem if your ISP or network hardware is having problems, you can't connect online for over 24 hours, and you want to play a game (badly!). I think that the chances of that happening are very low anyway. You can take the boy out of NY, but you can't take NY out of the boy.

One of the downfalls for me anyway is the creepy unchangeable setting where the Kinect Camera(facing you) is always on. For me that just leads to major concerns. Also the fact that the X1 is another $100 over the PS4...
But honestly, I would rather just spend the $400 to supe up my computer to make it gaming ready!"When governments fear the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny." Thomas Jefferson

Exec. Don Mattrick's response to the question "what if I don't have internet access?"
Seems like a big middle finger to every loyal xbox gamer. I know tones of people who have loved xbox since the original console who HATE the xbox one. They've already started to backpedal (and outright lie) on the issue of not being able to sell or lend your game. They said that this is the decision of the game creators and publishers, which is outright false. The head of EA games stated this.
I know most people have internet access and gold for their xbox, but it's the fact that it's mandatory for the xbox one. Lots of people, especially younger people (which is a huge chunk of the market), may not be able to afford to have internet all the time, nor may they be able to afford to get another gold subscription as soon as theirs runs out. Does this mean that they can't save up for an xbox one or receive one as a gift? Yes, according to Microsoft.
I for one RARELY purchase a new 360 game. I think my only new games are my copy of skyrim that my gf got me for christmas and my copy of halo 4 that came with our limited edition halo 4 360. There is a local store called entertainment overload (one in welland, st catharines and hamilton ontario) that we buy all of our games from. Why would someone pay an extra $20+ for a new game?
I personally hate kinect. I have absolutely zero use for it. I play halo, nazi zombies, skyrim...basically every type of game that I would never want to use kinect on. I don't even like wii for that reason. Now I'm not one to partake in conspiracy theories, but the fact that you NEED to pay the extra $100 for a kinect that you NEED to have connected to your console at all times bothers me immensely.
I'm really bummed on the xbox one, and this is coming from someone who LOVES xbox over playstation. I much prefer the feel of an xbox controller to a sony, and I much prefer the online gaming experience (when I do choose to go online) of xbox as well. Basically, like most of us wet shavers here, I like to have a choice, which is something that microsoft is taking away from their loyal fans.
Even if the xbox one didn't have these issues, I wouldn't get one of the first editions of this console, purely because I don't trust them to not crap out like most consoles do when they first comes out (RROD etc).
I can see microsoft doing a lot more backpedaling in the coming months, otherwise I can't see the new console successfully competing with the PS4.
