I have been shaving with the razor at the top of this thread the past week and (not to trumpet my own horn) it's been absolutely fabulous. I have been a long time user of very hollow ground razors and I could always get nice close shaves but that perfect shave, where you can go against the grain and then splash on the alcohol and feel nothing, well I very rarely if ever had that. Since shaving with this homemade however I have had just the most excellent shaves imaginable and today I had what I would consider a shave damn close to perfect. The hairs just wiped away silently, I went one pass against the grain on my neck and had no irritation, no weepers (I always get a few weepers with a hollow shaving this way). When I splashed on the aftershave there was nothing, just the gentle floral scent (D.R. Harris Pink) wafting upwards into my nostrils. How much of it is the wedge grind, how much the heat treat, the steel, just damn good luck? I can't really say but I sure as anything experienced a shave on another level today.
