"220 on free shipping"-Pixel-fixed, this is priceless (or is it?). And I thought I spent a lot of money on this money-saving hobby. Not sure I want to know how much I spent, to be honest.

Thanked: 4829In some regards my expenditures have been more than a little excessive, however I don't drink or smoke or frequently dine out. It is the one area of my life that I splurge. Come the end of the day it didn't levee me short on cash, nor did it require that I carry any short term debt. It works for me. I think in 2014 I am going to concentrate a little more on rock hounding and a little less on razors but I bet it all balances out the same

I enjoy watching lather go down the drain more than a bigger number in my bank account, so it's not really a problem
I know I got one razor this year because it just happened few weeks ago, don't think there was any other one.
Last month I also stocked up on a bunch of shaving creams that are no longer made, but if those are the only things I'm still well bellow $200.
However, I've definitely more than made up for this in the past.

As I mentioned in another thread, I did a spread sheet with all my razor acquisitions for the year (the madness started in Sept) and was a bit shocked at what I had spent. Just knowing that figure has put an end to my bidding/buying although I will probably continue to pursue the odd one "in the wild" (antique shops).
A steep down turn in my flying hours last year more than offset the cost of the razors and I have a few months worth of restores to work on now...However, I did order a fancy strop this last week so now I will have to keep that in check or have to switch to hones! The easy road is rarely rewarding.

Hm.... I have never totaled it up, but my shaving budget is $50 a month. I'd like to make it larger, honestly; however, I live in a small apartment and don't have space for things like belt sanders or band saws or lathes so there doesn't seem to be a point for the time being. At some point I may expand my collection of razors but for now I enjoy my DD and Ern.

Thanked: 603At the end of December, I spent $20 for a tin of unscented Simpsons Luxury Shaving Cream (from Fendrihan's, due to arrive next week); this was my only expenditure for shaving and shaving-related purchases in 2013.
OTOH, I sold razors -- double-edged and straight -- for $1,220 during 2013, enabling me to pay bills and remain financially solvent. Lest anyone worry, I still have 34 straight razors, five Gillette DEs, and several Schick injectors.
Disclaimer: My own frugality -- enforced or voluntary -- in no way limits or detracts from my enjoyment of others' spending and acquisitions in the pursuit of our shared hobbies; neither does it reflect a judgmental view of things material. But when you buy, remember to share (and if there ain't a photo, it never happened).
Smooth shaving!Last edited by JBHoren; 01-03-2014 at 08:33 PM.
You can have everything, and still not have enough.
I'd give it all up, for just a little more.

Thanked: 23I switched to double edge shaving this year from straight shaving. I am back to straight shaving now but spent less than ten dollars for double edge blades at walmart and got a old double edge razor (after breaking my first one during travel) for ten buck off the bay.
