Looking back to March last year, I wondered about this SOTD being another thing that'll run out of steam very quickly...
... let alone end up using a couple of straight razors that predate last century...
After that, I have no idea what 2014 holds. Employment, hopefully.~ Dave ~ ... back to lurking...

Thanked: 1184I am NOT totaling mine. I have a ball park idea and right now I don't need to know the exact amount. I am setting up a shop so REAL close to 2K...here and REAL close to 2K... there, works for me. It will taper off to zero this year and hopefully start going the other way. If I break even I'll be happy. I'm in it for the fun. If I wanted to get rich I would just buy a lotto ticket :<0)

Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

Thanked: 10I hope my wife doesn't read this but...... I started wet shaving early this year and at one point I had 13 razors. I am now down to 9 ( I think ). I think I sold those 4 for about $100. Bought a silver tail brush for $50 off classic shave (?) nice brush by the way. I have 6'tubes of kiss my face shave soap and 12 pucks of various others. I think I broke even lol

2013 saw the arrival of 4 new stones for me = $1200 approx.
Glad I stopped collecting razors. The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.

Well, I really don't need to shave either, but pretty much all of us here have enough disposable income to spend on stuff we have no need for, for the only reason that we want them.
No one needs to spend more than $20 on a shaving brush either, I bet you could get a cheap knot, glue it to a PVC pipe and it'll still make lather. But some people make and others buy brushes with the same knot glued to a handle made of super expensive and exotic materials

The last few years I've hardly bought anything; just a few soaps. But this year I bought a few nice, old stones, and a couple of things I've been wanting to try for a while. All good, and all resell-able. I feel very lucky that I could afford them this year, and that I was able to find some really nice people to deal with, with such high quality goods.
About $2500.I love the smell of shaving cream in the morning!
