Ya know Phrank, I never even considered a problem with the alum block, if that's what you are suggesting. I will not use it for the next several days and see if that has anything to do with the flare ups. Nothing that I have read so far has indicated any problems with alum. But you never know.

Razorfeld - was thinking that using it might actually help, but now that you mention it, I've read that it does irritate some people's skin. So maybe give it a go and see if it could be the alum??? I get flare-ups, almost like clockwork once every two months or so, no explanation, just suddenly I look like I drank to much red wine...and I don't even drink alcohol!!

Well, if that is the case then I will have no recourse but, as Pope Razorfeld I, to advance you to Sainthood in the Church of the Steel Blade. I hope you realize that, if confirmed, being the first Saint of note in said church, your duties will be to assist me in the evaluation and consideration of other possible Saints (of which there is no waiting list at the moment) as well as hold a public exhibition every decade showcasing all razors over 8/8.

Thanked: 60I often wonder about alum, I also use it on my finger tips to assist traction with stretching.
I have noticed that sometimes I get as much of a reaction from it as a alcohol splash, but I usually put that down to shaving to close.
I think I will join in with not using it for the week and see how it goes…..It is not how much we have, but how much we enjoy, that makes happiness
