We're just talking about razors, right? It's perfectly normal to have a 30-40 year supply of soaps, isn't it? I just ordered two more this morning so I hope so.

Ohhh man....I was just thinking about the soap I was planning to use today. Been meaning to use the DR Harris Windsor for awhile now again, really like the stuff! But having just used the washroom, I had the overwhelming feeling that today is a Proraso Red day, and was thinking that no, I was planning to use the Windsor.
Then, as I ascended the stairs, the thought hit, it really doesn't matter what soap I use, I have enough of them to last many lifetimes, and I'll eventually get to them all...so I might as well go with the moment!
Interesting thought Tack!

Ha! In re: D.R. Harris.. First, I pack most most of my soaps into stick containers and a typical puck will fill about 1.3 of the tubes I use. So, over the weekend I gave a stick of Harris to a friend, leaving me with the undersized tube which I used this morning. Now, at the rate I get around to each one of them that partial stick would last many years, right? No matter, I nearly had a panic attack fearing that I would run out of the D.R. Harris Arlington so I ordered another puck.. and while I was at it I noticed the Institut Karite soap. Darn it, I use their shave balm (really nice, BTW) but had never used the soap. So you see, I dealt with two near emergencies with a single order.
It's not an obsession, it's just being efficient!

Thanked: 60Just imagine if you could only keep one soap and one cream? What would they be?
I'm even considering going down to Arko, and Proraso Green…..
Occasionally I have actually run out of a soap or a cream and over the following weeks I have either missed it or not…. I would miss Arko and Proraso green for sure, in fact they are the only ones I have actually finished and missed on a couple of occasions….
I don't think I could cut my AS/COLOGNES as fine though as the wearing of scent after the shave is the icing on the cake for me…It is not how much we have, but how much we enjoy, that makes happiness

Great idea Kev!
Some of you fellas have hundreds of razors? This is like the male version of Imelda Marcos' shoe collection..
If you could only keep one razor which would it be?

Thanked: 3226Yea, I was musing in another thread how I could easily get by nicely with a Palmolive shave stick and an Omega 10066 boar brush for the rest of my life. Sometimes we just get a little carried away with our hobby. Not a thing wrong with variety though but I just don't think it is a necessity for a good shave. Anyway I won't let that stand in the way of my various ADs.

Thanked: 6I think I've come to the same realization, but for different reasons. I've been laid off as a landscape designer, and just got a call from my boss that my position won't be filled this year. I've been taking a couple of college classes for personal development, and Uncle Sam helps me out a little bit since I'm a veteran and using the G.I. Bill, before Obama screws everything else up. Around 12/35 of my razors are shave ready, most of the ones I'd have a harder time parting with, a couple real "beauty queens", but the rest I plan on polishing and honing up - hoping to list them on SRP, but I haven't been actively posting enough within the last 6 weeks. I'm definitely prepared to part with more than a handful of these bad boys though, and it does feel a bit therapeutic to part with some.

Hi kev,
I did a bit of a cull last year, it was all the not razor, not soap stuff, you know witch hazel, pre shave, that sort of thing, i realised also that i have quite a few soaps etc, which i am running down, of what i have i could quite happily use MDC, which i do in perth, or an uberlather made with palmolive soap and cream. I make uberlather when i am in karratha, and am using the opportunity to run down all the varios soaps and creams i have bought.
I am now trying to figure out if i can get away with having one razor in perth and one in karratha, esp as i can leave a travel D/E there too as i will only be keeping a slate hone there for refreshing.
I would like to be in a position of owning no more than 2 straights, a set of hones, a brush and soap, and an A/S and cologne.
My shave is already down to no prep, 1.5-2 passes, aftershave done.Bread and water can so easily become tea and toast
