Thanked: 60At the moment if it was one Straight, It would be my Dovo 6/8 Bismarch, only because the wife bought it, but the Gotta is a better shaver.
Now if it was a straight or a DE I'm afraid it would be my Merkur Futur (wife bought again) and only because its so quick and gives me a BSS on my neck with no irritation…. I would miss my straights though….It is not how much we have, but how much we enjoy, that makes happiness

Hahaha...sorry, the MDC really is all it's cracked up to be, at least in my opinion. First soap that surpassed the hype for me!!
And if it was one razor....no questions it would be my 9/8 W&B, spike point / square point, Celebrated Hollow Ground, For Barbers Use, Zombie Slayer.....whose name is, "Tim".
That and some MDC and I'm good.

Thanked: 375It's a hard and tuff thing you did Kev, has the withdrawal been bad? did you get the shakes, cold and hot spells?
I really don' think I could narrow down my SR collection, there're the ones I love to shave with, and a few that I just like to look at....
Sometimes my wife catches me staring at them........that's usually when I can't decide which I want to use, it's really ridiculous.CHRIS

I must admit that while I've only been using straights and DE's for about 18 months, I can see pairing everything down as a necessary evil eventually. I was so hungry to try everything that I bought more razors and soaps and brushes mostly just to see what I preferred. Now that I know what sizes and grinds of razors I like, I really have no use for the ones that don't fit those preferences, and using them simply because they are there doesn't really interest me. I could see selling the excess and keeping maybe a 2 week rotation of my favorites.
Food for thought and congrats on simplifying!

This thread is silly and I refuse to participate!

Well I guess I'm in the minority here as Everything that I have I couldn't part with! The razors that I have have either been given to me so I'd never sell or give them away till death do us part and the others that I've purchased are among my favorite shavers!
I have given razors away that I've purchased that were good shavers to Newbies to help them out but I had better shavers so my loss was their gain!!
There is one strop that I loaned to a fellow employee that was interested in learning the art along with a straight razor, I also helped him find a beginner's strop. Well he was suddenly transferred and then lost interest in learning the art and when he finally reappeared here there was no strop, no razor! He says that they have be in his storage unit but I won't hold my breath waiting for their return!!
I don't mind losing the razor even though it was a really nice shaver but the strop was a gift from a good friend and it had been his father's!!
I'd tell you the shaving soap that I've used for about 35 years but I started a war when I did that last time! Our house is as Neil left it- an Aladdins cave of 'stuff'.
