Great stuff guys!!! Like I said I will take it slow and see how it goes. I do have a great room for it,,, Its private and four steps from the main part of the barber shop. The shop is in a renovated house turned into a shop. I'm going to start with a good selection of soaps and after shave lotions and a few DE razors for sell and maybe a few straights and brushes on consignment from guys on here. I'm 9 miles from Ft knox, so I'm going to advertise there pretty hard. I'm sooooo thankful for all the input from you guys, it means alot. Yes it is a place where moms can bring their kids and some drop their kids off and go shopping and have me call them when they are finished....they know they will be safe and I'll correct people if they cuss or act a fool with kids in there. Now if kids arent in there ,,,,, ya may hear some "jokes" lol www.facebook.com/RonandAndy the first post you see says it all Amenrican barber shop " the original chat room"
Thank you guys so much , I will post post post as I go!

Just guessing this is why I got interested in straight shaving when I was a teen. had this poster in my room.

Although probably more suitable for the back room of a proper shave shop where little eyes can not see.Why doesn't the taco truck drive around the neighborhood selling tacos & margaritas???

The world is moving very fast for a 'proper' shave shop. Would anyone even turn their phones off for 20 minutes to sit in a chair? My advice would be to walk into as many barber shops as possible and learn. I know of a barber shop within a few miles that specializes in bootlegged movies. Not a gentleman's shop but a hang out where you probably need hip boots for the bull going around. I admire the idealism.
Cheesecake is from the 40's and 50's and is the most innocent of shop calendars, but the calendar might turn away the gents in bowlers and top hats. Good Luck, keep dreaming. You might consider catering to the hoi polloi rather than the lumpenproletariat."Call me Ishmael"

Definitely some 'Gents only' spots around to get a haircut! Some guys like that. Games on tv, beer, leg and such.
I joke, but I go for the real thing. Haircut, in and out. Nice friendly guys and gals. Talk and laugh! My barber is ...er...Hot! A real sweetheart being herself! A great (and hot!) barber! She is my friend who took over the shop. Before that, it was 'Old Glenn'.
Both great barbers and friends!"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.
