Evening if I'm at the office the next day, if working from home....afternoon is my favorite time, when no-one is in the house!

    Also retired.

As a very early riser (I only need 4 or 5 hours of sleep) I dress and have coffee and start the day.
Around 7am I start the teeth brushing, shaving and other bath regimens.
The shower is done before bedtime.

It seems rushed and utilitarian during the mornings, even though I allot enough time for a proper two pass shave.
Where as in the evening, there is something about setting out the straight, filling the scuttle with hot water, prepping the brush for lather, getting that lather just right, etc. Even the lather seems to smell more fragrant. My technique seems to be better also. Nothing beats getting a three pass shave, a few swipes of the alum block, applying a soothing aftershave lotion/balm/liquid and then catching a quiet sit, relishing a spot of bourbon (Elmer T. Lee).
While sitting with a drink in hand, I like to reflect a little on how shaving with a straight razor, and everything that goes with it, has brought a tad bit more enjoyment to life and how I wish more people could experience it. It's a time I look forward to every evening, a bit of therapy if ya will.
Just wondering if anyone one else out there has a preference? Till next time then, taker easy Y'all.

Defintely agree with everything you mentioned. I am also an early riser, up at 5am as start work early so that doesnt really allow for too much time in the morning other than a quick shower. I like to take my time in the evening and chillax while shaving, very cathartic.

I have always preferred a morning shave. Now, not shaving on a daily basis, it's become more like early-to-late afternoon. Nevertheless, shaving remains a "daylight-only" activity -- if for no other reason than that I enjoy having the remainder of the day/night to enjoy the smell of whatever afterscent I've chosen to use.

    Smooth shaving!

You can have everything, and still not have enough.
I'd give it all up, for just a little more.

I am up at 4:30 am on work days. I had my shower the night before. If I am using my shavette I will use some noxema and a hot towel. If I use a DE then it's just some warm water and the soap for a great three pass shave. I do this seven days a week with no irritation unless my blade starts to dull. I am getting about seven good shaves out of a Feather.
Even if I do get a little irritation; within an hour it's gone and all I feel is the cooling from my "Margaritas in the Arctic" shave soap.
