A GD 208 I purchased via Amazon is an excellent shaver. It came ready to go out of the box. I've now had it for 5 months and it is still going strong. I also bought a GD 200 straight off the boat to practice honing. It's a good shaver too, and wasn't as hard to hone as I expected it to be.

Macaroni and cheese out of a box is good till you have had homemade by someone who knows how to cook. tread carefully with all this GD talk. I went to the library to find out what it is all about, and didnt find good things. I recluse myself from this thread due to the path it is heading down.
Your only as good as your last hone job.

Yes, this is not a thread on Gold Dollar razors. Please stay on topic. Thanks.

Don't be such a spoilsport, Obie. The company in question sells them, so we could not avoid talking about them.

Apropos Wiki, the FAQ is broken. I noticed while looking for the One Thread to bind all GDs.

Robin, my old friend, the writer in me insists on keeping on topic. Ernest Hemingway said that if the word does not belong in the sentence, throw it out. The way the thread is going is in the general neighborhood of the Hemingway's comment. In this case, the topic is significant and should be explored further. Otherwise, before long, the thread will narrow into espousing the magic of the blasted Gold Dollar, making it the eighth wonder of the world. OY!

Yes it is, but you also know how to fix it. So do I, but I have higher priorities, which you probably have as well.

Actually, it came from the same company, Just through Amazon. I've perused their websites a few times but have been reluctant to buy anything else off mixed reviews here and other forums. Besides, now that I have a few to use, and I've not completely destroyed one with a hone, antique stores and ebay are more fun.
Kinda like my other hobby. I don't put down a high point or some other low Q gun people buy as a starter. I'm just happy to have them in the fold. Doesn't take long to educate your self and move on with forums like this.
