You are so lucky! On several counts:
    1) You have family heirloom razors
    2) You got nice shavers cheap from ebay
    3) You are not a RAD victim (at least not yet)

I have six right now, five of which are good shavers and one that I am still working on.

Yea my SSAD is keeping the RAD at bay for now but sooner or later it will probably catch up to me.

3 shave ready (but currently not used)
4 on work bench undergoing 'refurbishment'

not bad for someone who started in february

Sixteen total, of which half are shave ready. The rest just wait 'til I have the time to get to them.

My personal opinion is that even 20 is too high. On the other hand, for me it's hard to trim so much as to reach this number! Small steps are necessary - first I'll try to reach 40, then 30... Will reconsider once I am there.

I have 65 all in my rotation and all in great shaving condition.

The great thing about have a large rotation is once honed you don't need to hone very often!

    Ivo,
It's really not as hard as I thought it would be. A while ago I decided I was going to limit my shave ready stock to no more than 15 razors. If you think this was an arbitrary number, it's not. I have a barber's box that holds 15 razors . Anyway, every time I finish another restoration project, I test shave with it and decide whether it is something I like more than my least favorite razor in my rotation. If it is, a razor gets bumped and sold, otherwise the newly restored razor goes on the block. This system allows me to keep trying new razors and the sales allow me to fund this addiction. I also get to incrementally increase the quality of my rotation. The only razors I'll never get rid of are the three that were my grandfathers (all just happen to be superb shavers anyway).

    Good luck culling the herd,
    Ed

You guys are great. I'm laughing as I read some of your counts...but all the while knowing I'm there in potential if not actual.

So far I "only" have 5 shave ready + 1 I ruined beyond repair before I had a clue how to sharpen anything finer than a plane iron. Unlike many of yours, none of mine have come from ebay. My weakness is seeing one in an antique store/sale that's begging for a good home...or some nostalgic source - like the 3 I bought from a retiring barber. My intention is to keep a small set of faithful tools...yeah, right. Only 2 of those get regular use, with a 3rd slipping into the rotation occassionally.

2 which are in daily rotation and 2 more on the way. One is gonna be from Billy's Blades and the other is one of those Polish ones from ebay which I want to try out. I probably won't go higher than 10 razors.
