I just calculated how much soap approximately is in my odds and ends bowl and it would seem to be 650 cubic centimeters of soap.
it seems an awful lot.
The bowl is circular and app 145 mm across and there is about 40 mm of soap in it.
now who knows how many shaves 1 cubic centimeter of soap gets?Bread and water can so easily become tea and toast

Thanked: 116Until the end of my life, then I would still pass a stash to the next generation. I also have enough raw materials to make several kilos of shaving soaps as a fall-back.

What a soul-searching thread...
I believe I am in the 10 year+ class.
Regarding use, I have been trying to calculate the burn rate of Cella Sapone (brick)
I don't have enough shaves in this test to confirm - but I have been running a "shocking .5 to .6g per shave, not the 1.5 to 2g that I had been expecting.
So the 1kg block (even with some PIF) could be in the 4-5 year range all on its own if the burn rate holds....even if it's not that good it will be a chunk of my 10+ year supply...
And since I have been responding to the "what can I tell X you would like for Christmas?" with Obie's 7 wonders list (minus the ones I have) and I already turned over the un-opened Trafalger to the SWMBO for my stocking...
15 years might not be out of the question...
What great problems to have...

Yes - think I'd be in the ten year class if soap is the litmus test...if it was after shave type products, whether it be aftershaves, Thayers type treatments etc., would probably be closer to five years...but soap...yea, ten years no problem.....

I do not make New Year Resolutions but I will put one goal in the sand, as they say.
No Soap in 2015.
But, indeed, and truly, what do you think my chances will be of keeping this promise?
It will be a struggle especially if XPEC comes back.If you don't care where you are, you are not lost.

I think you should retract that - why would you deny yourself an indulgence in something as enjoyable as this? Stop smoking? Sure. Stop drinking and eating badly? Excellent. More exercise? Awesome!
But no shaving soaps? No way, what would be the point of living then? What if a limited edition came out?

Thanked: 1185My fine soaps would last about 5 years and then I have this other stuff that will work the rest of my life and probably the life of a 18 year old to boot. I think we would starve to death before we had to quit shaving :<0)
Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.
