Just so I am clear, this is your "odds and ends" bowl.

So, how long if you count all your soap and add it to the 4 yr bowl?

That is why each of my soaps lasts so long. All unused lather remaining in the bowl and brush is retained in the bowl for use for another day.

OK so based on your calculation for soap use, my figure of 7 shaves from 10 grams of cream, and my estimate of 1/3 of the lather going back into the bowl,
    i got to 8.01 years.
I calculated how many days shaving I would get with the raw products i have then divided by 3 until I got to 1, added all the numbers together and divided by 365, so i haven't taken into account the two leap years, but i also haven't factored in the small slivers of left over hand soap that get added to the odds and ends every month or so.

I actually need to amend my previous estimate:
I will use the same formula to calculate the number of shaves, that being 2,925. However I need to rethink the amount of shaves I have. I had assumed a shave every day, however I currently shave on average 18.5 times in a 3 week period, 13 out of 14 days I am at work and on average 5.5 of the 7 days I am at home.
I think my current job will last maybe a year so that is 321 shaves.
After this job I think I will go back to working in Perth so my shaving habits should mirror that of my week off, so 5.5 shaves per week, or 287 per year.
I have used 365.25 days per year for this calculation.
If I subtract 321 from 2925 I get 2604, if I then divide 2604 by 287 I get 9.07, i add the 1 for the first year and I end up with 10.07 years of shaving (give or take)

Soap is for sure the limiting factor in my ability to shave forever- so it seems with most of us! I could probably go about a year on my current pace before needing soap. I guess I should stock up so I have at least 2 years worth! I could buy every soap I even think I might like and I still will not be caught up with some of you though...

Inventory??? Yeah keeping 5 ok maybe 10. Look for the rest in the giveaway section. Call it research and development of my preference. Watermelon that smells like bubble gum isnt my thing. But it sounded good at the time. Call it Box of Sh*t. Newbie learning, Mixed and melted Tallows and Glycerines , Yeah that didnt work so well for me, Now its stuck in a Water Buffalo horn Bowl. Each time I heat it in water the bowl deforms into a new shape. Real genius I am.
