    Ooooops my bad.
Sorry all I did not mean this thread to be contentious. I was just curious as that seemed like an awful lot of money to me. So if I have started anything that has caused offence then please accept my apologies in advance.

I think you are pretty safe, as has been said it's only if we get to valuation territory that it could get problematic. What someone paid for a razor isn't a valuation until whether it is worth that is brought into the discussion

No, my wife would divorce me! I paid somewhere around $300 for a straight once, and that's about as high as I will go. Most of mine are in the $100-$150 range.

I would not disclose how much I have personally paid for a razor, but I will say that I've honed quite a few razors costing over a 1000 dollars and then I have honers rights I usually give them a shave before I send them back, so I can categorically say I've not yet honed a 1000 dollar razor that will shave better than my early Filarmonica 14 Especial.

No worries. This thread is ok. As long as we're not arguing about whether X is worth Y and go into the realm of valuation, everything is hunky dory.

The best edges I've had were wapienicas which were bought at 9$ apiece.
I have made razors that performed equally well.
