Default SRP - Operation Wet Shave

    OPERATION WET SHAVE

We have a great opportunity to share our hobby and help out some aspiring wet-shavers get better shaves. They are a U.S. Cavalry Scout Platoon (19D’s) presently serving in the middle east. The platoon Sargeant is a straight razor shaver and his soldiers have been borrowing his soaps and asking if he could teach them to shave with a straight razor.

We want to prepare and send them a care package with all the equipment they need.

For operational security we, understandably, are not able to provide precise details. However, it would be great if we as a community could put together:

    • Twenty straight shaving kits to include a shave ready straight razor and strop along with soaps and a brush.
    • Ten DE kits with a DE razor, double edge blades, soaps or creams, and a brush.
    • A half dozen good barbers hones that have been lapped and chamfered along with some general maintenance hones of the Norton 4k/8k variety.
    • Brushes, soaps and creams and several styptic pencils along with several dozen aftershave lotions without alcohol. Alcohol based after shaves cannot be mailed.

We need the straight razors to be shave ready. Please do not send razors that need repairs, or are misaligned with their scales, or are otherwise in unsatisfactory condition. I am willing to hone or touch up straights that need it but I would prefer not to.

If you have anything that you would like to donate to this cause, please send me a private message and I will provide you with my mailing address. I need to receive your gifts no later than June 10. Kindly use priority mail to send your items to me and be sure your SRP screen name is on your package.

I will repackage all in APO priority mail boxes and get them mailed to the Platoon. If we end up with more supplies than needed we will use them in our regular monthly giveaways. SRP accounting standards will be followed to the letter for this entire effort.

I would like thank all of you for your consideration in supporting our Servicemen and Servicewomen. It is not only something that will bring them closer to enjoying their daily shaving as we all do, but also receiving a care package from home will be an incredible morale booster. It is a small token of appreciation for the ongoing sacrifice that members of all of the Military Services make for us.

Please mail your package, so that I receive it no later than June 10 - Thank you

    Bob

Absolutely! It's easier to put the target the way Bob did, but any contributions, no matter how small, are welcome!

Razors are the easy item to donate. brushes and creams and soap are items that might be bought before it's shipping time and added to the mix. also strops the same. small donations in the form of money orders might be appropriate. might be easier to get X no. of strops at a discount for the propose . just a thought. as I said the shave ready razors would be the personal item and the soap and strop well you know what I mean.
