If you are general an active person.. What's the purpose of the move? You would just be posting what you would be doing that day.

The idea is to be able to include those who are not growing a Mo and to promote being active.

My Daughter gave me a FitBit for Fathers Day this year and I have to say it's help me remember to do a little bit more than normal, so I could see how this might help.
"Moving" every day for 30 days might help some get out of a less than active rut...

I think it's more of a motivating factor than anything else.
Yes, I'm active but I definitely wouldn't be trying to exercise every day unless presented with a challenge such as this.

How do you like your FitBit? I don't know what to think of them, phones now seem to be able to function as a pedometer and tell you your hart rate and how many calories you burned.

I use MyFitnessPal - can use the barcode scanner for most foods if I'm out or shopping( e.g., Starbucks has a great snack that pops right up in the scanner and fits perfectly for a snack category), and keeps a good record of my workouts and calorie intake and more importantly - making sure you get the right type of foods and nutrients. I have it set to consume no more than 60 grams of sugar a day and 205 grams of carbs, and various other nutrient settings. While the overall calorie count can become easy to manage, getting the right counts in the right areas can be tough.

I was surprised how much I liked it.
And yes, you can get as much, and maybe more functionality out of other devices or combinations.
The attraction may be that I started using it (like that 30 day Move thing) and it became a habit. I started noting that if I keep water intake at 3L/day or better I felt/functioned better for instance.

Like much of life, what you get out of it is a function of what you put in to it.
For me it has been a useful reminder.
