What do your women think?
Does your straight razor obsession impress your wife/gf or do you think you are nuts?

Thanked: 0Short answer: Yes.
Yes, she's impressed. And yes, she thinks I'm nuts. She's convinced I'm going to cut my head off, but she sure admires the BBS cheeks. And I could hear the pride in her voice when she told her mom, "He sure is crazy, he shaves with a straight razor."

Sometimes she wishes I'd spend less time and energy at it ('specially this forum), but ultimately she thinks it's cool and manly.

Thanked: 0My girlfriend is a big supporter. She bought me my first razor and wants one for herself.
My wife is not too impressed and is banned from touching any of my razors out of my fear that she'll hurt herself or worse damage the razors.

Ok, except a one friend who shaves with a DE, I know nobody who has shown me any other attitude than 'You're nuts/stupid/crazy' Even my girlfriend thinks the same. She complains that I spend my life with razors. Of course whilst I am living in Poland, this hobby is limited, but when I get home she won't believe what hit her!
No really, she is ok with it, she just complains that I spend too much time on the internet, and why can't I just shave like normal people. You cannot explain it to her because she isn't interested. I think her father thinks I'm nuts. He saw me shaving with a DE and thought I was an idiot. He HAD to use a DE throughout the communist regime so for him it was a sign of the past. I think for him Crap 3 and fusion are the most amazing invention ever. Until my Polish improves I don't think I will be persuading him otherwise either!!
Oh well I'm happy and don't care about other peoples opinions of my hobby and that is what is important!

In the beginning I think she figured it was a passing fancy and hoped I wouldn't slit my throat. Now she doesn't think about it at all. By the way she always thought I was nuts...
Oh and two women I barely can deal with one...

Right now, I think she wants me to give up the straight and go back to the DE. She misses the uber-smoothness I get with the Slant/Feather and is not impressed with this transition period to straights.
"But you're not as confused as him are you. I mean, it's not your job to be as confused as Nigel. "

Thanked: 1587My wife is a riddle, wrapped in an enigma, shrouded in a puzzle, etc... She hates my razors (she actually has a knife phobia) and has to leave the room when I shave. But she's come through a couple of times for me in a big way - a Mason Pearson pure badger shaving brush last Christmas, my 8/8 Papabull-scaled Friodur, my Bergischer Lowe.
So, she wishes with all her heart that I had never chosen this "shaving lifestyle" but supports me 100% in it because she knows I love it. She's a "dem fine woman, sir!"
