Quoting Tam:"I'm envious, Joed! Sounds like you have an understanding and participating spouse."

Yes, Carrie is very understanding. We both have our separate 'hobbies' but at the same time there are many things we have common interest in. I'm glad straights is one of them but at times I have herd Carrie refer to herself as a straight razor widow. I don't know how she can say that.

Joed's definition of approve: After close consultation between the parties involved both feel the decision to proceed forward is a good path to take with minimal consequences possible.

Joed's definition of disapprove: After close consultation between the parties involved one or both feel that the decision to proceed forward is not a wise decision and the consequences in doing so may be greater than perceived and in more ways that expected.

In the case of straights, Carrie often catches problems with the item that I miss or knows something about our budget that I may not be aware of yet.

My wife can't stand the thought of those blades on my throat, but she is amazed at the result. It's also started a new "saying goodbye" tradition. She used to say "drive carefully!" (response: "you too!" There's a long story behind it...) Now she says "don't cut off your head!" (response: "you too!").

I've been shaving with a straight for a few months now, but my wife only has seen it when I'm home on leave. She tried watching but didn't last long- she was too nervous.

She did buy me a Tony Miller strop for Christmas, and doesn't mind the <$20 antique store specials I'm finding to restore. She even helped me pick out the wood for the new scales. (Bloodwood, zebrawood, and something else I forgot...)

    I feel pretty lucky.
