Thanked: 7My gf started off with a real dislike of straight razors thinking them to be something like russian roulette, then when i didn't slice through a main vein she was impressed now i'm getting better at shaving she lets me shave her legs with my straight and enjoys the ritual and the results!

Oddly enough, my girlfriend is completely indifferent to it.

Thanked: 1903My wife did a very smart thing and took over control of my shaving kit budget (cf.
http://straightrazorpalace.com/newbi...card-away.html). This has resulted in me carefully picking quality products at reasonable prices (i.e. still no Dubl Duck in my collection, etc.).
Other than that, she thinks its a very Hulk like thing to do, with all the pros and cons.
Oh yeah, and I got this for my birthday: Vintage Straight Razors - Hans - Otto Deutsch & Söhne - 6/8 - Solingen Germany - Original Emerald Green scales
Did I mention the fact that my DE has vanished into the upstairs bathroom? I used to jokingly refer to it as a leg shaver, but it does exactly that, and quite well.
Luckiest man in the world? You bet.

Anyone else not beeing completly honest to the wife about the cost of this hobby/lifestyle?
And Leon could you please change that avatar of yours, every time I see it I get a desperate need for a smoke! Its just something about that picture that tells me that smoking isn't really dangerous...

My wife pretty hated it at the outset and has since established a level of indifference . After a lifetime of not really having any significant hobby and then falling for this more intensely than one would imagine and the time I've spent immersing myself in learning all I can about straights, I've created a bit of a monster.
I've tapered off from the time spent learning, searching, shaving, honing, etc so things are accepted a bit better from her.

i think i just thought of a neat idea! they should make a door knob sign like in hotels that says " WARNING. theres a MAN shaving with a straight razor. DO NOT ALARM HIM" and then a basic drawing of a skull and straight razors as cross bones! hahaha. cuz i know i would most definantly want someone coming up behind me while i was shaving. as for my gf... she also thinks im crazy and im too into everything about straight razors. she makes fun of me saying im metrosexual if not gay because she has never met someone who takes up soo much time shaving, smelling good, taking care of the skin, then taking care of the supplies and tools themselves. she says i have too much of everything ( selection) like woman have too many shoes. hahaha oh well. its a beautiful thing. but she is buying me another razor soon so she supports it.
