BATE and SWITCH at KNIFECENTER.COM
I received my new Eagle (TI) razor today from KNIFECENTER.COM. And found one small problem. If you look at the picture you will see a nice distinctive barbers point on the razor, this is the only photo of this razor that appears on their web sight. The problem is that the razor I received is a 6/8” ROUND POINT! After being stonewalled by Customer service (apparently they stated that the razor came in round point as well as square in the add) they tell me that they cannot take the razor back. I cannot see TI shipping barber points and round points as the same modal number and leaving the one you get to a crapshoot! I know I would not have ordered a round point rather than a barber’s notch razor. I also called Howard Korn (the owner) and received the same story that KNIFE CENTER INC. has no idea which razors they are shipping out. Than he tells me that the different modals are from a different “Casting” and they have opened some and found that they only have the round points now. But they still have the photo of the Barber points on the add. When I asked why they didn’t take a photo of the round point when they had the razors open they tell me “it was an oversight” and “All the ones that are open have been sold” and “they will not open the razors because the customers want them pristine from the factory”. Did I mention that the blade on mine has finger prints on it and they are not mine? Do you the circles Howard is talking in? I think KNIFECENTER.COM. has a hard time selling the round point vertion so they deliberately leave this misleading picture on their web sight and ship the round points with a “NO RETURNS” policy! Can you say BATE and SWITCH?

Putting aside the issue of RP v. BN, did they say why they are unwilling to take it back? Was it on "final" sale or something?

They say no returns for because it is something that touches the skin. Classic shaving takes razors back.

I do know most of my wholesalers will not allow return of razors I buy from them once openned. On a TI it is a hard one to tell but a new Dovo comes in a sealed plastic box and once openned it is evident. I know I would not resell an opened razor again as new. I did get an opnned Dovo from my supplier once and after a fuss was able to return it as mine was even nicked!
The TI razors are not sealed though and if not like the photo I am surprised they are balking at a return whether open or not.

I've received the same BS story from them too....
They are useless when it comes to customer service. I had bought a TI a while back, and it came in the typical poor-QC TI condition. I called Knifecenter to ask how to return the item, and before I could finish the sentence as to 'why' I was returning it razor, the gentleman on the line became irrate and went off on a tirade of 'no returns on razors'..'highgene...sterility....' blah, blah, blah.....
When he caught his breath I told him that there was 'functional issues' to the razor and it was damaged in that respects. AND, that I had already sent it back....
When he heard that it was damaged, he hesitated, , and said, "well, if it's damaged...and already sent, there is not much I can do. I will reimburse you this time, but our policy is....and next time...." blah, blah, blah....
It was such a BS expereince I don't deal with them anymore. There are many other sellers of TI razors, that I'd much rather deal with. If you want great items with great customer service, use classicshaving! Another 'secret' is Lehman's razors (which are TI's and at a great price too!!)

I sent an email to TI asking if they do indeed ship two kinds or razors under the same model number. The jury is still out on this.

Thanked: 9Ha,
Sorry to hear this! What a load of BS! I will try to avoid doing business with this vendor for sure.
You can certainly grind the notch by yourself. Or ask another member to do it for you - such as Robert Williams, Joe Chandler, etc. No biggie at all it will take them like 5 min?
By the way, CS was not too nice to me when I was returning a poor TIPTLE, but I certainly had no difficulties. Someone just tried to BS me a bit, which felt insulting but stated from the start that the return will be accepted without any issues. I don't plan to avoid CS in the future.
Cheers

I just wish CS soled the Eagle brand! I had my hart set on the barbers notch and would hate to have to put it there myself. I played over $160 for this thing!!!

This is a black mark for the Knifecentre. I'll be avoiding them if they don't clear up that with you.

Interesting post, Mason, and (almost?) timely. I JUST TODAY ordered that EXACT razor from KCI. Before placing the order I emailed them (I DID read the part saying some were round point and they didn't know which you would receive) but, like you I liked the notched point so I clipped the pict and mailed it to them and asked to be sure it would be this model - specifically the point. They said it would be. We'll see. i'll keep you posted. Wish me luck.
