Thanked: 1587Thanks for the thanks to everyone who posted in the thanks thread, Dsailing! Giving thanks can often be a thank-less task, but I thank my lucky stars that thanking people who deserve thanks has been enabled in the forum. Thanks!
When thinking about thanking, I often think thanks can be overused. But then I think, no - thanks are for thanking good or useful posts, so I don't mind a good thank, I think. On the other hand, if we don't thank a post that deserves thanks, the poster might think - noone thanked me...I think thanks is thank-less.
Anyway, that's what I think about thanks. Other's thoughts on thanking may differ and that's OK. Thankfully, we can all think what we want about thanks, and thank each other thankfully for our frank thanks thoughts. That's what I think.
Thanks!

Funny that I use "Thank You" all the time in the 'real world', but I tend to overlook it in the forums.

How often is "Thanks" used as a ritualisic response rather than an expresson of gratitude? I've noticed in business calls, frequently, the other party will end the call with, "OK, thanks," even when they have agreed to do something for me or given me information. As for the Thanks feuture, I've never used it but have thanked others appropriately the content of my message.

I thank people loads in real life. I like to treat others how I would like to be treated. It sounds so cliché but I am a firm believer of it.

Thanked: 351Unfortunately it would appear that I fall singlehandedly into the "I don't thank people. People thank me!" category. Not by design or some devious deep dark secret desire or something but rather just that I never felt the need to be thanked or to thank someone else for offering help (*using the thank feature that is*, I have and do thank someone in my own words when I feel it necessary!). While I have nothing against this forum feature, I don't really see what it adds to the whole experience.... If I wish to thank someone who went out of their way to help me out then by golly I'll do it in my own words. On the other hand, if we were sitting together in a bar, having these razor related discussions, we'd hardly be thanking each other every 2 minutes just because someone gives an answer to someone else's query and if we did, it would be something more significant than clicking a mouse button, no?
Regards
