I don't like the idea of converting anyone into anything. I always thought of it as odd that people in general want to convince other people to do things "their" way.
That said, I do things exclusively my way (sometimes even to the point that one can hardly call it "a way"). It happens that people adopt certain behavior. Not often, but still, it happens.

Furthermore, I think that the typical straight razor shaver is a gamma male, and those don't really qualify for much conversion.

You really can't convert someone to straights, they have to be interested and receptive first.

I've converted quite a few people to wet shaving, and have more than a few "volunteers" who would like to help me test soaps, but none have made the step to straights. I keep telling them that is a requirement for being a soap tester...

Straight shaving attracts a certain type of person, someone who needs convincing isn't likely to be that type of person.

I've spoken to a few friends about shaving with a straight, but the general reaction I get is I'm not that brave.

Hi Bart, I definitely share your opinion and maybe I had to formulate the question differently. I don't consider myself a 'straight razor shaving basher ' but it's still fun to see when people become curious about shaving the old fashioned way and see the look on their faces when they start wondering what they have been doing all these years with their Glittet Super Mach 3, Wilkipon Power Swords

That is exactly what I have heard. I can't understand their trepidation?

    Four!

My son, my neighbor Eli, my son-in-law, and my Grandson - Eli got a co-worker and one of his brothers signed up. I guess that should count for something.

I even had cards made up with a couple of pictures of RW's customs, with my name, phone #, and encouraging words. I kind of got discouraged trying to talk new guys in to trying. This way I could say a little bit and hand them my card; it says I will give a demonstration and all that. So far, no takers from the cards.

What is really interesting is the reactions I will get when I suggest shaving with a str8: ARE YOU CRAZY? ...and various other discouraging words. I'm not that enthusiastic about selling the concept anymore, but I do keep a small stack of cards in my wallet and I still will give them out from time to time. It's amazing how closed minded many guys are!

I have three other Grandsons who are not old enough, yet. - but they WILL shave with a str8 when the time comes!
