I tried to convert my dad, he started enthusiastic, but he quit after a few weeks because he cut himself to often (shaky hands).

Absolutely nobody. I've got most family and friends to stop using canned soap and try better quality shaving soaps, but the straight razor is just one step too far. They look at me as if I've lost it and just don't understand what is wrong with a gillette skin stripper or electric meat grinder. But hey, if everybody used straights, I'd have to buy a DOVO or TI and I can't say I like the modern stuff all that much. But that's me. I've used a straight for many years and my skin is smooth and healthy, so what's to complain about apart from...the weather, the TV, the state of the nation, international politics, the youth, crime, the price of petrol.......the cost of living.......

Sorry to say, I've converted no one. But then again, I haven't really tried too hard. I find that people are very resistant to trying something new, and even more resistant to trying something old.

I don't know that I've "converted" anyone but I know a couple of people that were already receptive to the idea and I merely helped them out with some initial advice and perhaps the loan of some gear until they were up and running.

When I was talking to a close friend back home, about my little straight razor hobby, I told her when she demonstrates, she can shave her legs without cutting herself, she can shave me. She's all excited about that now. She also mentioned that if she was a guy, she would definitely shave with one, coz they are so cool.

What....? You don't class me talking a female friend into shaving her legs with a straight and then my face a conversion?!? Tough crowd.

Well its not exactly a conversion though, coz yea we're on opposite sides of the earth and all, but hey it won't be like this forever.

I had a friend at church who found out about me str8 shaving and he told a couple of his buddies, they got excited and had me come over to his place and do a demo. I told them to start hanging around here and pick up some pointers and watch the vids. When I did the demo, I took a number of strops, 20-30 razors, several brushes and soaps, did the demo and let everyone else give it a go, some did better than others, but all in all not bad. Ended up honing a couple of str8s that had been purchased on our bst, I had warned them about buying on ebite. The 1 female present wanted to shave my face and I told her she could give it a try once she learned to shave her legs adequately, havent heard anything since.

Maybe we should get together and dressup in white shirts and dark slacks and start canvassing the neighborhoods, with straight razors in hand maybe they wouldnt be as likely to slam the door.
