I don't think the herbs would hurt a type 1 Diabetic, they possibly could help level out some of the "spikes". I have heard that cinnamon will do much the same thing, however, nothing will replace the insulin that a type 1's body doesn't make.

Nothing that helps to prevent peaks & troughs in glucoses is a bad idea. Like I said previously, I am wary of all & every miracle cure. I saw enough diabetics with ketones & glucoses in low orbit as a nurse. A goodly number of those had been taking some miracle cure which made them ill by them neglecting their medication.
How do I embed the link to the club in my signature like you have Freebird?

Spike offers sound replies IMHO. He is really stating the facts about what us type 1 diabetics have to deal with. As great as some stuff sounds and as much as I'd like to believe there is an easier way, sadly, there isn't. Insulin or death really lol. Anyway, once again, I have been on a pump for almost 10 years of my 22 with diabetes. If anyone needs any pump advice, ask away!
On another note, I just got my new pump- Animas (and OneTouch) "Ping". It is the first time I'll be on a pump that is wirelessly connected to a glucose meter. Therefore I'll be able to test my BS and give myself insulin directly from the results! I'm looking forward to it, but still have to sort out getting all my strips changed.

Alex....lemme know how you like the Animas Ping. Basically it is an Animas 2020 with a OneTouch Ultrasmart meter. This is what I have, except mine don't "read" one another.
I figure in the next 5 years, the pump will have a built in glucose meter....or at least I hope so.

I went from the mini med 512, the first pump that received the bg results wirelessly from the glucometer, and am now using the Accucheck Spirit. I really liked using the mini med, however the 512 didn't hold enough insulin for my needs. The Spirit holds twice as much but I have to carry twice as much with me when I go anywhere, glucometer, strips, extra infusion sets and a palm pilot (used to calculate boluses).
Spike, as far as the link just go to your cp and then into your signature settings, type in what you want it to say, highlight the words you want to use as the link then click on the link button, the one that looks like the earth with a piece of chain under it, and paste the address for the group page into it. Easy as pie (sugar free pie of course)

The Ping sounds awesome. Please let us know how you get on with it, Alex. I might just forgive you for giving up on the "projects" Those CF scales are amazing
I am using the minimed 712 at the time being. Like Tony said, there is meant to be a meter that works with it. Problem is, the meter is not licensed in the UK. If I am not mistaken, the next generation of pumps do not have a meter attached. They continuously monitor the glucose via a pad on the skin. The downside to the loss of fingerstabbing is that these pads last 3 days & cost $50 a pop. Try getting your healthcare provider to fund that
