I don't think it is necessary to close this thread. It is a rather drastic step that we like to reserve for hopefully rather rare occasions when a bit of a time off is absolutely necessary. I trust that we all are mature enough to just leave a thread die of natural causes when there isn't anything constructive to add to it.

I'm talking about the "homy and hood sarcasnm lingo." I'm not refering to what he did or wrote about. I agree on your point.

Maybe its just semantics but I read he adopted the name 50 Cent as a metaphor for 'change' not to glorify crime and that he would do anything to provide for himself.
I see a big difference in 'willing to do anything for money' but I guess we all interpret differently.

Just as a humorous aside he could have chosen a less intimidating name and succeeded.

Look at IceTea or Eminem . The glorification of cold beverages & candies.
The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.

    Left it behind, eh?

Must be why all his songs glorify mindless violence, mysoginy (sp?) and systematic targeting of law enforcement officers?

    read some: 50 CENT lyrics
Not sure he deserves so much credit as you think. Just because you are able to parlay something awful into a moneymaking career doesn't make you a good person.

I agree with Gugi about letting this thread die of natural causes.

    Red face

I watched today the show Cribs on MTV and it was about a house that someone famous owns. The fellow who lived there is like 50 cent, also a rapper but I don't know his name because rap is not my strongest area.

Anyway, the fellow had a small division with a restored barber chair in the middle, some vintage barber price list (a shave cost 15 cents) and he had a counter in front of the chair and picked up and showed a straight razor, not a disposable one I'm sure, the real thing.

So, as I asked in other thread concerning straight razor shaving classes, are we on a trend?

You know, I think we are!

And anyone who goes the whole hog and gets a barber's chair can't be all bad.

I didn't mean for this thread to be a debate if the rapper known as 50 cent is a good person or to ask if rap was your type of music. Never did i say it was mine.

I was merely pointing out that a celebrity that i normally would not associate with straight razor shaving, indeed uses a straight razor.

    EDIT:

And if you don't like his music, exercise your right as a human and do like i do, don't buy his album. But if i disliked him or what he does that much i would not give him my time posting negative things about him or his music. Bad press is good press.
