Each customer had their own personal mug/brush that was kept at the barber shop. I'm sure if the customer wanted one, they paid the going rate, and the barber ordered the mug with the customer's name on it from the local salesman next time he stopped by. Pretty cool. Having your mug on the shelf right next to all the other guys in town who used that particular barber. Nice way to keep the regular customers happy.
