Mr. Dupont: "Are you a straight-edge kind of guy? Do you change your own oil?"
    Husband: "No."
Mr. Dupont: "Do you wash your own car?"
    Husband: "No."
Mr. Dupont: "You're a safety razor guy."
You have to change your own oil and wash your own car to use a straight razor? This is just stupid!

No it's not. Ray was a great guy and he knew how to get to the heart of the matter. If you're not a do it yourself type of person then straight shaving is not something you're likely to take up. That's all Ray was trying to establish.

Personally I think ANY media attention brought to straight razor shaving (done seriously) is a plus. But I think the piece probably has to be written by someone that actually uses one. This article is only a fluff piece. I really wish someone from here that's a journalist would write one. Otherwise the article runs the risk of simply pandering to some mass-marketing segment of society. Sort of like reporting on an oddity. Hell we're resurrecting a wonderful experience that went by the wayside for millions of men. Slowly but forcefully it's coming back into the mainstream consciousness - so I'd like to see someone that loves the experience write about it in order to bring more guys back into the fold. Hell, membership here should be 10 million fold higher (OK we may need to chip in for more servers...)

Thanks Gratewhite, that article was a pretty good one, for a change. I thought the questions Ray asked cut right to the chase. There is for sure a level of commitment that many of the non-do-it-yourself people just aren't going to be into.

If you're the kind of guy who thinks that's stupid, you might not want to read this...

That video is great, and while I rarely miss a bikini clad blonde I would if there was a classic car in the vicinity

    Thumbs up

i dont think its supposed to be literal on the oil change, its kind of a doit yourself question.
and its totally true, when you have a straight razor, you have to strop it every day yourself, whip lather yourself, hone it occassionally yourself. not to mention learn how to do it all Yourself.

when you have a cartridge and barbasol you dont Do anything

    good and funy article!
*article backed up if it disappears
