Sounds like you may be storing your razor in a damp enviornment or its the specific mineral oil that you are using. I hope the black flecks are not on the edge of the blade. Try using a metal polish to get the black flecks off. Be careful not to get any on the shaving edge. It will dull the edge fast!

Also, I was looking at my blade after my shave today and noticed black flecks on it. I am pretty sure they weren't there when I bought it, but don't really know what they are. They seen to be raised above the surface because I can feel them when I run my thumbnail across them. I have been cleaning the oil off it before my shave with rubbing alcohol, as well as using it to clean the blade off after a shave. I follow that with an application of mineral oil. Does anyone know what the flecks might be or how to get rid of them? (haven't had a chance to try a scrub brush on it yet)

None of the flecks were on the edge, though some were close. I ran over them with a brillo pad and got rid of most of them, though a sort of sillouette was left of the larger ones so I will be keeping an eye on it for a while. I will try giving it as much time to dry as I can (that means about 4 hours tonight since I won't be home for that long). I'll let you know if anything turns up.
