Thanked: 15I'm new....
Greetings,
I'm a new straight razor user and wanted to introduce myself. I've shaved with a Mach3 for years, but got tired of the neck irratation and decided to try something else. I've been using a DE and had great results and been reading so many good things about the "real thing" I decided to give it a go.
I've been using a disposable to start as I thought it would give me a good idea of what it was like to use a straight razor and good for travel as well.
I've purchased a razor from Lynn and waiting for it to arrive to try it out.
Thanks to all those here who have given such great advice, it really helps us beginners to jump in and try it out. Thanks very much!

Welcome!
Reading the Help Files if you haven't already done so, is an essential step if you want to advance your learning curve. It'll answer most of our initial questions and give you more you heven't yet thought of.
Good shaving, CRR.

Thanked: 15Thanks! I've read a bit but I have to spend more time. There's a lot there. I'm sure glad I found this place BEFORE I decided to try straight razors. I'm sure I've saved myself a lot of pain and blood.

Welcome to the Club, CRR!
I'm relatively new to straight razor shaving myself. I've been doing it about two months now. I'll shave no other way...
With respect to your razor coming from Lynn, I can assure you that it will be the sharpest thing you've ever held. I had mine honed by Lynn and man, what a difference. Having said that, use patience when you shave at least until you get your technique down pat. Also, you'll need to use a lot less pressure when you shave as the sharp blade will cut through your beard like a warm knife through butter...otherwise, well, the alternative isn't pretty. LOL
I don't know how long you've been out here, but the group/guys out here are some of the greatest resources on the net. Don't be afraid to ask any question you need an answer to. It will get answered. These guys out here are a great bunch of guys. Here's to hoping you enjoy the site as much as I do.
Welcome to the club!

Chris,
there's a very informative essay, if you will, called "the art of the straight razor shave" by Christopher Moss. Have you seen it? If not, drop me a pm and I'll send it to you. It's got some great information for someone just starting out.

Thanked: 15Yeah, I have it. It's very good and it is one of the things that helped me starting out. Lynn's video was also very helpful.
