Thanked: 7Oh this never happens to me, though I've been considering applying for a job as a Shop Teacher with no finger endings.

I don't know why I kept on reading all of the posts. With each new one I read, I feel the cold tinge of imagining each and every one of the cuts...
Sort of like someone dragging their nails down a chalkboard.

It's been a while since I've chimed in to the idiot club...
The other day I was shaving with a (very) spike point without my contacts in, and lost track of the tip (read: I sliced my ear nicely).
Thankfully a shave-ready straight razor makes a nice clean cut that usually heals nicely.

my best one was when i went to reach in my bag on the way back from iraq, the paper towel my razor was in unwrapped and the razor was open when i grabbed the blade didnt hurt much till i saw what it did a nice slice of the top of my finger bleeding like crazy thought i hit a artery in my finger tip lol. i was soooo painful afterward, ive also cut my nose on the side of my nostril, ouch

I'm a well vested member of that club! The left side of my face was a testament to the first few months of straight razor shaving. My hands and fingers displayed multiple incidents associated with sanding pitted blades until I bought a magnetized blade holder. Even my ears and nostrils showed the effects of a misguided idea about popping ear and nose hairs with a blade that has a barber's notch.
The best advice I ever got about that (besides to stop being an idiot) was from my doc. He said he had some old timers years back that still used straights and that had a nasty habit of slicing body parts. His advice is to clean out the slice with hydrogen peroxide and then pinch the slice to hold the skin together and put a layer of CA (crazy glue) over it. Allow that to dry and put a second layer of CA on it. Then after it's all dry bandage the wound. I've done that a few times and it works well. Of course simply being aware of the location of the blade is always the best advice :-)

Thanked: 154"Hi Scott!" Welcome to Finger Cutter's Anonymous. The coffee is on the side table. Yep; I too have done the same thing, and with a shavette, no less!

I've managed to put a good slice in my thumb by manipulating the razor without focusing on what I was doing...

Never on the face...but twice now on my left thumb (sigh). Yes,...I too belong to this club, lol.
