Thanked: 43Sliiiiiiiiice!!
Well, I feel like an idiot. I don't cut my face shaving, naw... I sliced my thumb. I finished my first pass and was reaching for my brush and...
You'd think a guy who has a RAZOR in his other hand would think to move the incredibly sharp blade out of his way.
I held pressure on the cut for half an hour before it stopped bleeding.
My name is Scott and I'm a complete idiot.

I may be new to SRs but not to blades, so I'm not unfamiliar with the basic concepts of handling a sharp object. First day I got my first razor, I had my thumb over the opening in the scales while I was closing the blade. Closed the thing right on my thumb and sliced it right open.
So uh yea, welcome to the club.

Easy to do, don't kick yourself too hard... the other problem is once you start to gain some confidence, you can increase your odds of cutting yourself as you start to do too many things at once.
My rule of "thumb" is when I'm holding the razor I always look at it, either directly or through the mirror. RESIST the temptation to move either hand while not looking at the razor...

The only good one I have gotten was from a Wostenholm frameback. The best part: I wasn't honing or stropping or shaving. It was an ebay special I got for $5 and I was cleaning up the blade. It didn't even occur to me it could be sharp, it was so dirty. I sliced a large chunk off the side of my thumb.

Its easy to do!
The other favourite is dinking the edge on the tap when you're not looking... Been there done that..!
They do bleed like stink dont they? Just shows how sharp the edges are..! This is how we learn I suppose..!
Glad you're good now though, and didnt need stitches!
