Agreed. In fact this AM my daughter wanted to watch me shave. I nicked myself and she saw the blood and asked if it hurt. I told her "Yes and that is why I don't want you to touch Daddy's razors". She said OK and ran out to play with her stuffed animal.... so much for a lot of compassion . She'll make someone a wife one day.

I have pretty much the same approach. I have brother young enough to be my son, and if he's curious (or, for that matter, if my brothers who are old enough to shave have questions. ) I'll show him and supervise, but let him know it's sharp and dangerous.
He's been pretty good about it, though. Not like when I was shaving and somebody opened the bathroom door to shout that breakfast was ready. Ouch! @#$@! And a nice bleeder for my troubles.
All the advice I've heard says the same things about guns (or knives or other dangerous grownup toys, I'm sure) - you show them, and let them satisfy the curiousity, and then they pretty much leave them alone. Better than hiding it and the kiddies getting in when you aren't around.

Thanked: 15I took the same approach with my firearms. Show them to the kids and talk to them about safety, let them handle them (unloaded of course) and that seems to satisfy their curiosity. They don't even go near any of them. They're afraid to touch the razors, but they'll pick up 9mm hold it no problem.

I shave late at night. My time. Everything is set up and ready to shave before I step out of the shower, including a sink of very hot water. I step out of the shower, slosh my face with some of the hot water and apply the lather. When I need to put the razor down I slosh it in the sink, close it and put it on the countertop. Anytime I'm not using the razor it's closed and on the countertop. If I'm not applying lather my mug sits in hot water.
