Now what...
Okay, you've lathered up, stropped your 30 laps, and made your first pass...where do you set your razor while you re-lather? I've finally decided that a new roll of toilet paper is the ideal place! Soft, can't nick the blade, round enough to balance the razor no matter what size.
Where do you set your razor?

Randy,
I keep eveything except my mugs/soaps in the bedroom. I use a small wooden tray to oad up the impliments of choice for the day, razors, brushes and any other grooming items I need (comb,brush,etc..). I then lay a towel on the bathroom counter and lay out everything includig the razor. Between latherings the razor lays flat on the towel where it cannot fall or get nicked against the hard counter. It drys there after the shave too until everything gets loaded into the tray again. In the evening when I get home the tray gets emptied and the next days selection goes into it. When I am puting everything back I decide if the razor gave a good shave, in which case it goes back into the display rack or if it needs attention it goes into a mug for further work later.

I do it differently. I do my 30 trips on the strop. Put my contacts in. Take a shower. Dry off. Lather up, shave. Done. No problem.

I strop and shave, no waiting but I also have a towel on the sink counter and lay my razor on it with my comb. Keeps them both dry and protected.

Everything but the stypic block is on a folded hand towel (styptic block is on a soapholder for ease of drying). Between lathers, the razor is on the towel where it can't be damaged nor can it easily slip to the floor - or worse, slip and fall on my feet or legs.

I have two small washcloths I use when shaving. Both are soaked in hot water. The first washes my face, then gets folded in half to wipe the spent cream & whiskers on. The second continues to soak. When I finish the first pass, the second towel is wrung out and used to wipe the cream from my face, rinsed again, and replaces the first towel. I rinse out the first towel and let it soak while I lather again. The razor rests on the folded towel when not in my hand. This does require additional handling when swapping out towels, but I suppose the swap itself could be eliminated.

I guess I'm not very creative
I just close the blade into it's scales any time It's not in use/ in my hand. Just make sure your blade is clean so you don't gunk up your scales..

What I do is set up all the instruments I need for the shave before getting into the shower. When I get out, I lather up and then take the razor to the strop *coughbeltcough* -- then I get to the shaving.
Where do I lay the razor down? Why, on the counter, of course. It's not made of concrete and I just set it down gently for the 15 seconds it takes me to lather again.

Mine goes on a towel during relathering, but only because I do a full rinse to re-wet my face between passes. When I do a minor relathering of the chin or during touch-ups, I hold the razor in my off hand while I grab the brush and paint my face.

Thanked: 0I had to put up a new pair of shelves so that my wife had someplace to move her stuff to, clearing off the right side of the counter for my use.
But I'm still working on my dos and don'ts as far as procedures for shaving. I find that if I have a washcloth on the counter I will put the razor right there. If there is none I tend to pick any empty spot and use that.
It looks like I will have to get in the habit of placing a cloth on the counter for the razor to sit on. It just makes sense that it will be less likely to be damaged if it's there and not on a bare counter.
