Thanked: 1I'm pretty sure that's not a "Dutch" company....
- Does anyone have a cheap shave ready razor that I could purchase for a low price just to get started properly?
- ...anything around 20 euro's (25 or so dollars) would make me happy...
- Anyway. I was just wondering if anyone had one left that they would sell for less than a leg...
- I find it kinda hard to believe that NO-one here has a spare one. I'll just work on getting my crappy ones better then

Here's one for $60 http://store.yahoo.com/nashvilleknif...fsolstra1.html
And, of course, Randy, you know I wouldn't shave with it at all. Just illustrating that once in a while, you get what you pay for.

Thanked: 1LX...
My attempts at humor get skewed sometimes... I was only razzing.
I believe humor is a way of making a point without drawing blood. Sometimes people just don't know if I am kidding or not. Probably cause I'm only good at it part of the time.

That's ok. I wasn't offended. I thought you had a good point were it not that you misunderstood. Don't worry, no hard feelings.

Actually I have been kicking the idea of creating a bit of local competition to DOVO and TI around in my mind for a while. However, with my current knowledge of metalworking, I'd rather shave with that Pakistani thing than with what I'd produce.. For that matter I'd also rather choose one of those McDonalds plastic knives lol.
Bill, do you have any resources on the blade grinding process that I would be able to read up on? This idea is still under consideration but I'd appreciate anything that would give me a picture of what I'd be getting involved with.

In a way I'm surprised that demand is high enough to
keep TI and Dovo in business. I have to wonder though,
with proper steel could those makers in Pakistan turn out
high quailty razors? or would their equipment simply grind
at too high of a speed and burn out the temper of the
steel?

Expencive is very loosely used term. What is high for one, might be pocket change for another. Anyways, straight razor is not something you buy every month, or year. You get one for life. And it better be good.
